 I Feel Like Griping...
Back to Full Blog

I have lots of allergies and skin problems. Every time I got a vaccination, I had a bad reaction. I can't have vaccinations anymore because the last time (when they gave me my rabies shot), I swelled up so much that I looked like a Shar-pei. They had to put me on oxygen and then later that night, Mom had to take me to the emergency vet and I spent the night in the hospital. I sure was glad when Mom picked me up the next morning!! It took a long time to recover from that vaccination. The vet said they won't give me any more vaccinations - they'll complete a waiver for the state-required rabies vaccination, which suits me just fine!!

Anyway, because of all the allergies and skin problems, Mom and Dad have a lot of medications for me - there's medicine for my upper face folds, medicine for my lower face folds, medicine for my ears, medicine for my allergies. I'm frequently on antibiotics for the places I get on my skin - just finished an antibiotic and steroid for a big boo-boo on my paw.

If we go on a trip, Mom takes a small tote bag that carries all this stuff! She's had to give me Benadryl and Pepcid and Kaopectate. I can't remember all the other weird stuff the vet has had her give me!

Then there's the aloe and oatmeal shampoo, medicated wipes and special wash that they have to use when my chin breaks out - that's another weird dermatology thing! And there's the monthly Heartguard and flea stuff they put on my neck. Mom even keeps first aid supplies especially for me 'cause of all this stuff.

Anyway, I'm sick of taking medicine and getting my face washed and folds cleaned all the time!

(And another thing, I'm really sick of the vet taking my temperature!! Bet she wouldn't like it if I took her temperature THAT way!)

Oh, yes, I almost forgot - my special diet food sucks!

Ok....I'm done griping now. I feel much better! Thanks for listening...

poor Jesse...sorry you have to go through all of that...but it sure sounds like your mom and dad take great care of you... buddy's last rabies shot, was bad too...his shoulder was really swollen and the spot turned black...it took a year for that to go away...he would cry if you picked him up wrong...I think they hit his muscle...he gets really nervous to go to the vets anymore...yall poor babies go through a lot...

Hi Jesse...Gracie here. I hate going to the vet too. I especially hate getting on the scale. I only get 1 1/2 cups of food now until I loose some weight. I'll just eat Rex's when he's not looking. I had to get my anal glands extruded, too. Yuk. Love, Gracie.

Sorry to hear about all the medicines you have to take Jesse but they are for your own good. Your parents really care about you and take good care of you. They love you like we love Mitzey and Tigger!

Hi, Scratch!! Thanks for stopping by!

I don't usually gripe about my meds and stuff (not too much, anyway) but it just kind of ticks me off 'cause almost every night Mom and Daddy Wayf catch me just when I get settled in to sleep. If they don't catch me at night, they catch me in the morning while I'm still so sleepy I don't know what's going on - talk about a rude awakening!!

Oh, well, I know they do it because they love me!

Hi, Kitcat! I'm sorry to hear that Buddy had a bad time with his rabies shot, too! And I certainly understand about being nervous when going to the vet. Mom had to take me two weeks ago...when we get into the examination room, I usually hide behind Mom's legs. But this last time, I got frightened because the dogs in the back (Mom calls that the torture chamber!) were whimpering and barking, so I climbed up on the bench beside Mom and I proceeded to pee on her coat! Well, maybe it wasn't so much that I was scared...I think I was just a little ticked off, too !

Oh, well, I know they do it because they love me...

Hi, Miss Lou! Thank you for coming to visit! Special hello to Mitzey and Tigger! I know Mom and Daddy Wayf love me and that's why they take me to the vet (way too much) and why I have to take certain medications and go through all those treatments and stuff. It just kind of gets annoying sometimes. Mom says I have to go later this year and get fixed ! What do they mean "fixed"? I'm not broken!!

I'm not a happy pug !

Aw, Jesse, I'm sorry you have to put up with all that, but you know your mom and dad love you, right?
Any news yet on a maybe new sibling?

Hi, Dazey! Lulu sure is a cutie!!!!!!

I know Mom and Dad love me, so that's why I have to take all those meds and treatments and junk. It's okay, I guess.

As for the sibling thing...we did go meet Skeeter and he did come home with us. We are trying things out to see how it goes. He sure is an ornery cuss! We were trying to decide if he needed a name change, he has such an interesting personality. Daddy Wayf has temporarily (and maybe permanently) dubbed him "Skeeter Bartholomew Stinky-butt Humperdink". Let's just say it was a long and smelly ride home.

Skeeter does have to go to the vet - he wasn't living under the best of conditions and we want to make sure everything is okay.

I'm sure Mom or Dad will post something about him and the situation soon. Mom's pretty worn out - her cold just won't go away. Dad's feeling pretty tired, too.

We'll talk to you soon!!!

Hi Jesse,
I know what your mom is going through with that cold that lingers on and on... I've got it too. And it's starting to make me an ornery cuss just like your new friend!
But the weather is supposed to be considerably better this week so maybe we'll all get in better moods.

Hi, Mary Elizabeth!

Thank you for the hug! I was just having a bad day, but I'm feeling better now!

Maybe they'll give me a break and pick on my new brother, Skeeter, for awhile.

Bow! Wow!

ohhh the trials of being jesse the pug! when you're a cat you have trials, too! ya know! first of all...i have to share litter boxes with three other cats...and ONE of them is a GIRL! ugh! she sure is fussy and prissy! i got sick, too, and couldn't pee. had to spend a weekend in the hospital with other strange people and animals. i won't even tell you what they did to me...very humiliating! i was most happy to be home! i'm feelin a lot better now but i still have to eat that nasty food the doc says i need to eat. i much prefer the food my ma makes. why just tonight she let me lick the bowl and i took the spatula and carried it away so i could lick it without my brother, timmy, getting any of it! i've lost some weight, too, so now i don't get teased as much. my ma was calling me "Mr. Big Stuff" and singing and cooing. now she just calls me Toby...and i don't get all the singing any more. oh well. at least i can pick on Rocko...the old man. he thinks he rules the house but really my brother, timmy, does. i like to harrass him and get in his face... tee heee. he gets REALLY mad at me and i love it! i'm glad you have a brother now you can play with....
even tho you're a dog...and you prolly smell funny...i guess you're alright!

Hi, Toby (and family)!

Thanks for stopping by!

I'm sorry to hear you had to stay in the hospital, too - it sure sucks, doesn't it?

I guess I do smell kind of funny sometimes, but oh, well, such is life.

When I first came to live with Mom, she had three cats. Two of them were afraid of me - I don't know why - they were all bigger than me! Anyway, she had a female cat named Gracie - Gracie and I would play all day long, chasing each other through the house. Sadly, Gracie became ill and passed away. I sure do miss her! I am very glad to have my new brother now! We've been wrestling and running and having alot of fun!

Your not alone Jessie the Chinese Crested we just bought is the same way. The breeder said he'll grow out of it after the first year. I have my doubts!
